100+ Pinterest boards ideas for fashion bloggers (+ free spreadsheet)

Fashion blogging | Start & Grow your fashion blog

Hey there, are you on Pinterest? It’s the 5th most popular website in the world, so if you’re not on it, you’re seriously missing out! Pinterest boards are one of the biggest traffic drivers for bloggers and can also be a great income source if used correctly. But how do you really use it as a fashion blogger?

However, I see SO MANY fashion bloggers who aren’t on Pinterest for some reason. While Instagram is great for driving sales directly from your profile, it is also very flimsy. Images come and go, and people rarely engage with content more than a week old. So you have to keep on working all the time to stay on top of the platform.

Why you need Pinterest boards as a fashion blogger?

Pinterest is different. Pinterest  boards can have an old pin drive traffic to your blog months and months after the image has been pinned. Plus, since last year, you can also post affiliate links to your favourite products! Which only means one thing – the more people see and repin your image, the higher your affiliate income can be!

Even if you’re not using affiliate links, it’s still very important to have relevant boards on Pinterest. Firstly, it will bring targeted followers to your account, which may turn into readers and yes, buyers. Plus, having beautiful boards with high quality pins will establish your brand quicker than anything else.

So, how do you do it? It may be difficult to come up with boards, so I’ve gathered 100+ Pinterest board ideas for fashion and style bloggers. And made it into an editable spreadsheet so you can keep track of your boards!

GENERAL PINTEREST BOARDS

General boards are usually broad and can contain hundreds, if not thousands of pins. They are great for curating an overview of things that you find inspirational and beautiful. SEASONAL PINTEREST BOARDS

These boards do very well when people are looking to refresh their closet and are hungry for inspiration. Make them a little bit more curated than your general boards, but still include many high quality, relevant pins.

ITEM-SPECIFIC PINTEREST BOARDS

Very often people are looking to buy one specific item, for example ripped jeans. They look not only for inspiration, but also for validation that there is more than 1 way to style a certain thing. Be a great resource and try to curate boards with stylish, yet everyday appropriate combinations. You can also include ‘item’ pins that can be affiliate links.

Make your boards broad, such as ‘Coats’ or as specific as ‘Burberry trench coats’.

  1. Coats – include another searchable keyword – long/ short / trench / winter / colourful / black etc.
  2. Bags – be more specific if you want – go for clutches/ totes / cross body / designer / statement/ Gucci / black / leather

  10. Shirts
  11. Pants/Trousers
  12. Skirts – mini / midi / long / full-length / skort / pleated / flower / black etc.
  13. Accessories – hats / scarves / broches
  14. Sunglasses
  15. Jewellery & Watches – go for Arm Candy/ Gold / Silver / Bracelets / Necklaces / Rings
  16. Bikini / Swimwear

COLOUR-SPECIFIC PINTEREST BOARDS

These boards tend to be popular when people are looking for ideas how to combine specific colours. Make sure there are only high-quality pins. You definitely don’t want to ‘inspire’ people with styles that are outdated and no longer inspirational.

  1. Monochrome outfits
  2. All black/white/any other colour
  3. Any of the Pantone colours for the year (find them at https://www.pantone.com/fashion-color-report-spring-2017  )
  4. Red/Orange etc. outfits / outfit ideas
  5. Colour blocks
  6. Black bags / Red heels – combine a colour and an item that will make your board more targeted. Use Instagram to find new pins – hashtags are usually super handy, because people tend to tag their #blackheels, #greycoat etc.

TRENDY PINTEREST BOARDS

Trend-led boards are not the most long-lasting, but can get you lots of followers if you have high quality pins on a specific trend. People respond much better to real people (bloggers) wearing an item, rather than a model in a magazine or a fashion show, because it is relatable. Again, use Instagram to find inspiration and pin along!

  2. Autumn/Winter Trends
  3. Pleated skirt outfit ideas
